Symbolism and appliance of the icon

In my opinion, Saint George ...is one of the most popular saints in the Christian world. He is a symbol of victory over evil. In many Christian images (either Orthodox or Catholic or any else) he is depicted riding on a horse and killing with a long spear the dragon. Saint George's name is given to many objects:  churches, monasteries, coins, islands, bays, cities, universities, channels, schools, sports clubs, TV comedies, commercials, even mushrooms, and uncommon chess openings and etc.

Saint George was a soldier in the Roman army in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, venerated as a Christian martyr. There are two main versions of the legend, a Greek and a Latin version, which can both be traced to the 5th or 6th century. The saint's veneration dates to the 5th century with some certainty, and possibly still to the 4th. The addition of the dragon legend dates to the 11th century. Saint George is venerated in the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy, Church of the East, Anglican Communion, Lutheranism, and in Umbanda. Therefore, this icon, a perfect example of Orthodox art, can be a nice gift even to a believer of any other Christian religion. It is small and delicate and it can be comfortably worn on the breast, and under clothes.

Why should you buy this icon?
