Symbolism and application of the item This is one of the nicest icon pendants I've ever seen. On the front side, you ...can see the image of the Guardian Angel. In his right hand, he holds a cross - a sign of obedience to Christ and following His commandments. On the left he squeezes the sword: with it, he repels the attacks of demons trying to capture the human soul. The word " angel" means " messenger". Angels are the faithful servants of God whom the Lord sends to proclaim His commands. Each person has his own Guardian Angel, which is given to him by God in Baptism and who is always invisibly next to him. The ministry of the Guardian Angel is not only to protect a person but to contribute to the salvation of his soul for eternal life. Therefore, the Guardian Angels spiritually instruct a person in faith and piety and pray to God for him. At the earthly end, it is the Guardian Angel who takes the soul of the deceased into Eternity. Guardian Angels take an active part in human destiny. As pure and holy creatures, capable only of love and goodness, Guardian Angels do everything to serve our true good and salvation. Guardian Angels, like people, are personal beings, but we do not know the private name of each of them. We cannot find out the name of our Guardian Angel. Therefore, the Orthodox Church does not have a special church service for the Guardian Angels in general and for each of them separately. But it obliges us to honor and thank our Angel privately, in daily home prayers, to turn to him for patronage and protection as the closest spiritual mentor. On the reverse side of the small icon, there is an ornament in the form of an equilateral "Greek" cross, symbolizing the harmony of the four-part world united in Christ. The words of the prayer are written in a circle: "Strengthen me in the good, my guardian, and guide me wonderfully to the silence of being," in which we ask the Guardian Angel to help us strengthen our good intentions and teach us to strive for the silence of a perfect life. This small icon pendant can be a nice present on the occasion of baptism. The pendant was made by the artist Irina Nikitina and by the team of the company "Akimov".
