This icon is a specific representation of Jesus Christ. The title “Pantokrator” means “Ruler of all”, but it can also be translated as “Almighty”. The Pantocrator is mostly an Eastern Orthodox or Eastern Catholic theological concept. The icon of Christ Pantocrator is one of the most common religious images of Orthodox Christianity. In Byzantine art, the icon or mosaic of Christ Pantocrator occupies the most important places. The image of Christ Pantocrator was one of the first images of Christ to be developed in the early Christian Church. It remains a central icon of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Our Lord Jesus Christ holds the New Testament in his left hand and makes the gesture of teaching or blessing with his right hand. The letters IC XC stand for his name.
