Symbolism and application of the item

The cross with the images of the Lord Almighty and the Guardian Angel repeats the ...shape of the ancient crosses common in the north of Russia since the end of the 13th century. The obverse of the cross depicts the Lord Almighty, Who is worshiped by the Mother of God, John the Baptist, the Baptist of the Lord, and the archangels Michael and Gabriel. The Theotokos and John the Baptist are "above all angels and archangels" and are closest to God. Their icons are placed to the left and right of the icon of Christ. The images of the archangels are above and below as if following them. Behind the Mother of God, by tradition, is the Archangel Michael (below), behind John the Baptist - Gabriel (above). The hands of all the saints are turned to God in a pleading gesture. Such a composition is called "deesis", that is, "prayer". The icon of the Guardian Angel is depicted on the reverse of the cross in the center. The Guardian Angel is given by God at Baptism and takes care of a person all his life. The angel protects the soul from the incessant attacks of the spirits of malice and after death becomes its guide to the afterlife. The image of the Guardian Angel is placed on the pectoral cross so that a person always remembers him, loves him, and prays to him. The words of the prayer are written around: "Holy Guardian Angel, pray to God for me!" God's saints also help people Two of them, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (left) and St. Sergius of Radonezh, are depicted on the cross. St. Nicholas, bishop of the city of Myra in Asia Minor (+ 342), is revered in Russia more than all the saints. During his lifetime, the saint tamed storms healed the sick, predicted the future, and more than once appeared hundreds of kilometers away to those in need of his help. Next to him on the cross is St. Sergius of Radonezh (+ 1422). This saint began his journey to God as a hermit not far from Moscow in the dense forests of Radonezh. The monastery he founded became the spiritual center of Russia, from where the great elder preached the commandment of love as the basis of Church unity and the integrity of the world. This cross can be a nice gift to those who need help. The cross was made by the artist Maria Manuilova and the team of the company "Akimov".
