Symbolism and application of the item

This is a small and nice icon pendant. Saint Nicholas, the Wonderworker is very popular in ...Russia. He lived in the second half of the 3rd century and was a bishop of the Lycian city of Mira, where he was famous for many miracles and works of mercy. Already during his lifetime, the people began to pray to him as to the saint, asking for help in hopeless situations. Sailors prayed to pacify the storm and save the drowning, those, who were innocently convicted - to stand up before the rulers, the sick prayed for healing, and the needy ones - for any help. During his life, he performed countless miracles and does not stop performing them until today. The legend says that he left presents for the poor ones (and that was the beginning of Santa Claus, who brings presents every year.) But, despite all his kindness, great gentleness of spirit, and purity of heart, Saint Nicholas was a zealous and ardent warrior of the Church of Christ. He even destroyed the pagan temples in the city. Saint Nicholas is the patron of children, coopers, sailors, travelers, fishermen, merchants, broadcasters, the falsely accused, repentant thieves, brewers, pharmacists, archers, and pawnbrokers. Enjoying high respect, Saint Nicholas pacified the feuding, defended the innocent convicts, and saved those sentenced to death from the death penalty. Having reached a ripe old age, Nicholas the Wonderworker peacefully retired to the Lord. Initially, Saint Nicholas was buried in a church in Mira. In 1087 merchants from Italy stole the relics of Nicholas the Wonderworker and brought them to the city of Bari. Their transfer to the shore was accompanied by numerous healings and miracles. The Basilica of St. Nicholas was immediately laid, and the Shrine was laid under the main altar.

That is why on the other side of the pendant you can see the cross in the form of an anchor and read the words (written in old Russian) "Blessing to the city of Bari".

Since then, the Orthodox Church venerates Saint Nicholas on the day of his death - December 6 (19) and on the day of the transfer of the relics to Bari - May 9 (22). This icon could be a nice gift to anyone, who especially needs the protection of Saint Nicholas.

Why should you buy this item?On the backside there is the word - "Blessing", which means that Saint Nicholas is sending you his blessings;
